Overview for International Clients
For foreign wives married to Egyptian husbands, Egyptian law generally preserves legal rights in a manner comparable to those available to Egyptian nationals. However, the procedural route is often materially different where one party is non-Egyptian, which means that the preparatory legal pathway may differ significantly from similar disputes involving two Egyptian parties.
This is often where delay begins. The process is not simply about filing for divorce, but first identifying the most suitable procedural route for the individual case. This varies from one client to another depending on the nature of the dispute, the surrounding circumstances, the evidence available to the foreign spouse, residence status, whether children are involved, and whether the client is currently inside or outside Egypt.
Language can also become an additional barrier for international clients. In many cases, the challenge is not only the family dispute itself, but also understanding the legal options, the court process, and the documents that must be prepared before proceedings can properly begin.
For that reason, we provide our services in both English and Arabic, with clear and practical communication throughout the matter. We explain each legal step in straightforward terms and assist with the preparation of the documents that need to be completed from abroad before the court file is formally structured.
Once the preliminary documents are in place, we coordinate with the lawyers the company cooperates with in Egypt to prepare the legal file and ensure that proceedings begin on the correct legal and procedural footing from the outset.
